The applications of silicone oil in the construction industry mainly include waterproofing treatment, modification of coatings, sealants and adhesives, etc. It can significantly enhance the weather resistance, waterproof performance and service life of materials. 

1. Waterproofing treatment

Silicone oil can be directly used for waterproofing treatment of building materials such as glass fiber, gypsum board, and cement. Its hydrophobic property can improve the material's resistance to wind erosion and anti-fouling ability. For example, adding 0.1%-0.15% of silicone oil emulsion to the mortar can enhance the waterproof effect. 

2. Coating Modification

Acrylic-modified silicone oil can enhance the UV resistance, water resistance and stain resistance of outdoor building coatings. It particularly ensures the appearance and performance of the coating under harsh weather conditions. 

3. Sealants and Adhesives

Organic silicone sealants (such as silicone structural sealants) are used for sealing the joints of glass curtain walls, window frames, etc., and possess weather resistance, aging resistance and high strength. 

4. Other Applications

Waterproof coating: The organic silicone waterproof coating can form an elastic waterproof layer and is suitable for roofs, basements, etc. ‌

Insulation materials: Used for cable insulation and heat insulation of building equipment to enhance energy efficiency.
